Linking/Chaining Commands in Linux

To add to your productivity and save time, chaining and linking linux commands is a fine way to go.
There are various chaining and linking commands present in Linux, but many Linux users are not aware of it.
  • To send a process to the background, append your command with '&' at the end.
Eg. -
$ping -c1 yahoo.com &
$ping -c1 yahoo.com & rm -f  *.flv &

  •  Multi-line command concatenation - \ . At times, you may be challenged by a situation where the command is long enough to be in a single line of the terminal. At those hard times, \ can come to your rescue
Eg. -
ssh ron@logserver1.linux123.com:\
/var/ftp/pub/webadmin/fedora/read \
kon@logserver2.per.co.in\
:/opt/admin/lo/

  3. I'm the same way I do my best to remain neutral. It's hard if you communicate with the person the other person dislikes then you fall out of favor with them! I simple can't dislike a person just because someone else does I just can't.
